I believe in local control of education, where parents, teachers, and local boards make the decisions. And while I’m all for giving parents options, it is crucial not to take away funds from public schools that are the heart of our communities. We must invest in these schools, providing them with the necessary tools to offer top-notch education to every student. Part of enhancing education includes attracting dedicated teachers to the profession with better support and incentives, and stressing the importance of American values, critical thinking, and civic responsibility in our curriculum. Moreover, we need to hold parents and students accountable for their roles in the educational process, ensuring active participation and respectful behavior. By focusing on bolstering public education with increased funding, support, and accountability, we can ensure every child has access to exceptional learning opportunities.
A strong nation requires secure borders. I stand for strict enforcement of existing immigration laws and support measures to strengthen our border security. Legal immigration processes must be respected and streamlined to encourage lawful entry, while sanctuary cities that undermine federal law should not be tolerated. Immigration reform must prioritize the safety and economic well-being of American citizens.
I support a free-market economy with minimal government interference, which allows businesses to thrive and create jobs. However, we cannot overlook the issue of corporate oligarchy, where a few large corporations hold excessive power. To foster growth, innovation, and global competitiveness, it is crucial to implement lower taxes, deregulation, and fair trade policies. Simultaneously, we must promote entrepreneurship and investment in America in a manner that addresses the concentration of power among a handful of corporations. Strengthening antitrust and anti-monopoly laws is essential to break down undue corporate dominance, ensuring a healthy economic environment where prosperity and opportunities are available to all citizens.
Healthcare reform should focus on fostering competition, enhancing transparency, and expanding patient choice, which will help to lower costs and improve care quality. The current system, burdened by excessive government involvement, hampers innovation and efficiency. Policies need to be shifted to empower patients and doctors, allowing them to make healthcare decisions without unnecessary bureaucracy. Crucially, insurance companies should not be in the position of making medical decisions; their role should be to support patient care, not dictate it. By protecting individuals with pre-existing conditions and prioritizing market-driven solutions, we can tackle the challenges facing our healthcare system, making it more equitable and effective for everyone.
My approach to foreign policy follows Theodore Roosevelt's famous saying, "Speak softly, and carry a big stick." This means I believe in having a strong and ready military but always prefer to solve problems with diplomacy and peaceful methods first. I'm committed to building a strong national defense, spreading democracy and human rights around the world, and supporting trade agreements that benefit everyone involved. Protecting our country's independence is critical, so I'm careful about joining international groups or agreements that might limit our freedom. My goal is to balance talking and negotiating with a preparedness to use force if the need arises, to keep the United States and its allies safe from any threats.
Americans deserve first priority when it comes to the use of their hard-earned tax dollars. It's disheartening to see border bills allocating less than 16% of funds to securing our own borders, while the majority, a staggering 84%, is directed overseas to countries like Ukraine, Israel, Gaza, Taiwan, and illegal immigrants. This lopsided allocation not only undermines our national security but also neglects the pressing needs of our own communities. Just as the safety protocol on airplanes emphasizes securing our own oxygen masks before assisting others, it's imperative that we prioritize addressing domestic challenges first. By focusing on strengthening our nation's infrastructure, supporting small businesses, and revitalizing our economy, we can ensure a brighter future for all Americans and better position ourselves to assist others around the world.
I firmly believe that political campaigns should be funded by individual citizens and grassroots support, rather than special interest groups or corporate entities. To uphold the integrity of our democratic process, I refuse to accept PAC money or contributions that would tie me to organizations with agendas in Washington, D.C. My advocacy for campaign finance reform centers on limiting the influence of big money in politics and ensuring fair and open elections where every voice is heard, regardless of financial status. Therefore, I am dedicated to restoring trust in our electoral system and prioritizing the interests of Tennesseans above all else.
I am committed to making the government smaller and more efficient to prevent it from becoming too controlling and wasteful. My plan aims to ensure the government is more accountable to you, the people. This involves eliminating unnecessary parts of the government, reducing wasteful spending, and introducing term limits for Congress to ensure accountability and freshness in ideas. My goal is for the government to truly serve its citizens. Ensuring that government actions are transparent and officials are held accountable is a significant part of my plan. It is also crucial to allow states the freedom to make their own decisions in many areas, acknowledging their essential role in our nation. Achieving the right balance between state rights and federal responsibilities is key to creating a government that is effective and faithful to our founding principles.
Being careful with money is very important. Our government is spending so much that future generations might spend their whole lives paying off debt. We need to change this. Simply reducing how much more we spend than we earn is not enough. We must save more money than we spend, even if it's just a little. This means we, as a country, need to learn to live within our means. I support making changes to spend less, balance our budget, and be smart about our finances. This way, we can make sure the future is prosperous for everyone.
Conservation and responsible care for the environment are key conservative principles. I support methods of protecting the environment that also promote economic growth, ensuring we don't compromise our natural resources or our economic well-being. My support extends to revitalizing and upgrading our infrastructure, focusing on innovations that improve energy generation, storage, and reduce energy loss. This approach aims to boost American prosperity. Encouraging advancements in clean energy and sustainability is crucial, but we must ensure these efforts don't unfairly burden businesses and taxpayers.
I support strong homeland security measures to protect our nation from both foreign and domestic threats. This includes prioritizing strong border security to prevent illegal immigration and keep criminals and terrorists out. I also believe in giving law enforcement agencies the tools and authority they need to effectively fight crime and terrorism. Strengthening intelligence-gathering capabilities and improving cooperation between federal, state, and local authorities are key parts of my approach to homeland security, ensuring the safety and security of all Americans.
I deeply respect our veterans and believe in recognizing their service and sacrifices. Ensuring veterans receive the care and support they deserve, including timely access to healthcare services and benefits, is a top priority for me. I also support initiatives that assist veterans in transitioning smoothly into civilian life, such as job training programs and educational opportunities. Upholding our promises to veterans and tirelessly working to enhance their quality of life upon returning home is a duty we must fulfill.
